Over 55 years in the making

Formed in 1970 as part of a league expansion, the Vancouver Canucks brought NHL hockey to the Western Canada. The early years helped lay the foundation for a passionate and enduring fan base.

THE "STICK-IN-RINK" (1970 - 1978)

The original team logo, introduced in 1970, symbolized a clean, modern identity with a hockey stick forming a subtle “C.” It remains one of the most iconic logos in franchise history.

THE "FLYING V" (1978 - 1986)

The eye-catching and unmistakable "Flying V" made its debut in 1978, creating a bold and aggressive new identity. Its radical look was unmatched in the NHL, standing out from every other uniform on the ice.

THE SKATE (1978 - 1997)

The Skate logo arrived in 1978 as part of a full visual overhaul, replacing the original blue and green stick‑in‑rink with a faster, more aggressive identity.

THE CLASSIC ORCA (1997 - 2007)

Unveiled in 1997, the Orca logo represented a new era for the Canucks, replacing the Skate with a crest built around an Orca and a Pacific Northwest colour palette.

THE MODERN ORCA (2007 - PRESENT)

The Modern Orca era began in 2007 when the team updated the logo’s colours to a deeper blue and green, returning to the club’s original NHL palette while keeping the familiar Orca.
