Both the carving action of Brent's linocut medium and the swooping lines represent a person's own unique movements.

"Carving your own path in life is so important and for most queer people that truly starts when you get the courage to live authentically in your skin", says Brent.

The Orca emerges from the ice in a swirling wave. "I was drawing from skating on a lake of ice. When one skates on ice they carve their lines into the ice and there is an exciting freedom of being able to skate in whatever direction you want."

The mosaic of colours grouped in contrast suggest the appearance of stained glass.

Besides being beautiful and diverse in shape and pattern, Brent explains this as a universal reference to "your unique inner light shining through."
